Independent freight guide

How to choose a freight option

A useful shortlist can be built without a complicated calculator. Work through the cargo, route, deadline and risk questions, then compare two or three feasible transport chains.

  1. Fix the exact route.

Use addresses, warehouse hours and practical access to ports or airports.

  2. Describe every package.

Record weight, dimensions, packaging, value and special handling.

  3. Define the real deadline.

Separate a preferred date from the point at which delay causes a loss.

  4. List operations beyond transport.

Include storage, packing, insurance, customs and final delivery.

  5. Request a clear breakdown.

Ask for the route, exclusions, rate validity and delay procedure.
