Start with technical data
Provide drawings or verified measurements, gross weight, centre of gravity, lifting and securing points, and any removable parts. Photographs help explain the shape but do not replace technical documents.
Survey the route
Bridges, overhead lines, narrow turns, road works and local time restrictions can determine whether a route is feasible. Complex moves may need a survey, permits, escorts and coordination with infrastructure owners.
Equipment and securing
Options include low-bed and extendable trailers, modular platforms, open containers and specialised vessels. The securing plan must reflect the load, support points and forces expected on every transport leg.
A route-specific project
Oversized cargo must be assessed together with the vehicle and route. Bridges, overhead lines, turning radii, road works and permitted loads may change the solution. Begin with drawings, packed dimensions, mass, centre of gravity and approved lifting and securing points.
- Validate cargo data.
Compare manufacturer documents with measured dimensions.
- Select the transport arrangement.
Match the platform, tractor, axle distribution and securing plan.
- Survey the route.
Check restrictions, detours and access to both sites.
- Plan permits and escort.
Identify approvals, lead times and movement conditions.
- Issue an execution plan.
Define roles, time windows and exception procedures.
Building the budget
Separate transport, route survey, permits, escort, cranes, loading, temporary works, waiting, security and insurance. A date remains indicative until the route and permit requirements are confirmed.
